WATER SHORTAGE HITS POLOKWANEby Kgaogelo Magolego on Wed, 2008-03-12 11:26. Northern Review: News
Polokwane and its surrounding areas have been hit by yet another water shortage. Spokesperson of the Polokwane Municipality, Mr Simon Mokoatedi said the shortage can also be attributed to a "power failure at the Olifants Sand Transfer Scheme". Mokoatedi has appealed to residents to "use water sparingly and avoid watering gardens".
The reservoir levels, according to Mokoatedi, are currently as follow: Krugersburg reservoir is at 3 meters and the two reservoirs in Potgieter Avenue are at 2,1 and 1,8 meters respectively. The most affected areas are high-rise buildings in the city, Penina Park, Ivydale, Nirvana and Seshego Zone 2, but residents of Zone 3 and 4 have also complained that they too do not have water. Mokoatedi said the matter was being attended to and will hopefully be resolved soon. |
