Safa hosted a 2010 Business Summit at Cosmo Leisure on Thursday to discuss possible growth opportunities with local businesspeople ahead of the 2010 World Cup. The summit was officially opened by Limpopo premier, Mr Sello Moloto, who described 2010 as a opportunity for businesspeople, not only for the 30 days of the 2010 World Cup but also extending beyond the World Cup’s closing ceremony.
"Impressions will be long-lasting and I am calling on the business community to ensure visitors will come back after 2010. Government will supply roads and world class stadiums to host the matches, but the locals and service delivery will make it a memorable event, different from the rest, distinctly South African, distinctly African," he said. According to Moloto, government sees the World Cup as a "continental fair", an opportunity to give the African image a boost and "build a community of nations". "We will all be ambassadors for the whole continent. We have the capacity and the opportunity has arisen - let’s take it," Moloto concluded.
